The most familiar and well known forms of renewable energy are none other than the sun and the wind. Most people don’t know that biomass (animal waste and plant materials) is the oldest and greatest source of renewable energy and this very thing are being used to get energy for centuries. A few years earlier, biomass were used to supply far more renewable electricity or so called bio power than solar and wind power. We can extract more bio power from biomass if this energy source is used properly and efficiently.
Key to sustainable energy
It has been announced that biomass is the key to sustainable energy. There are a number of benefits associated with this very option because of which almost every country is analyzing the potentials of this very option. By using sustainable and low carbon biomass the emission of heat trapping or global warming causing gases such as carbon dioxide can be decreased efficiently, which in turn will solve the problem of global warming.
A little control is also needed
Similar to other energy sources, the use of biomass is needed to be kept under control because bio power has some serious environment related risks involved with it. If the use of biomass is not managed carefully than it can damage the ecosystem, produce more greenhouse gases, and produce harmful air pollution.
However, there are a number of scientists who are in favor of biomass resources as they think it to be the key to the future, as they think that a variety of biomass resources can be produced with minimal harm to the environment and sustainably, which in turn will reduce the risks and the overall impact of the current energy system. Know this fact that implementing the right policy is important for securing the mentioned benefits of biomass and for avoiding the risks associated with it.
Biomass is considered to be renewable energy source not only for the reason that in this the energy comes from the sun, but also because the biomass can be reproduced in a short interval of time. With the process of photosynthesis, plants capture sun’s energy by converting water and carbon dioxide into carbohydrates.
When the plants or biomass are burned than the carbohydrates burns and it turns back into water and carbon dioxide, it also the energy harnessed from the sun. It will not be wrong to say that biomass are kind of a natural battery which stores solar energy.
